If, like me, you’re a fan of How I Met Your Mother, then the title of this post requires no explanation. For the unitiated, this phrase refers to the occasions on which ladies’ man Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris (who knew Doogie Howser would grow up to be cute and funny?), acts as main character Ted’s wingman. Barney approaches a cutie at the bar, chats her up, then turns and says, “Haaaaave you met Ted?” to introduce her to his best friend.
What does this have to do with The Book Lady’s Blog? Well, seeing as how it’s a new year, and I know there are tons of great blogs out there that I haven’t yet discovered, I’m asking you all, dear readers, to be my wingmen and wingwomen…introduce me to a blog you think I’d like, book-related or otherwise, and feel free to engage in a little shameless self-promotion if you like. Just leave your suggestions in the comments below (but don’t bother with conservative political blogs), and I’ll check them out over the next week or so.
If you’ve never seen How I Met Your Mother, let me just tell you that it is smart and funny and has some of the best witty banter on TV today. Set those new TiVos and DVRs I know you received over the holidays and check it out. If you are a fan, you won’t want to miss this, which was my hubby’s favorite stocking stuffer of the year:
I can’t wait to see your suggestions!

Good morning. I love that show. One of my favorites. This is also a shameless plug. Good morning.
Good morning. I don’t see this in your side bar. Semicolon. She hosts a saturday salon where everyone can post links to their book reviews. Today she is hosting a post your book lists review.
You can find her at http://www.semicolonblog.com.
Robin
did you see Dr. Horrible? It was great fun.
I keep meaning to watch some of HIMYM but I’ve never gotten round to it. Maybe that’s a new year’s resolution for me!
Anyway, I’m going to indulge in the shameless self-promotion
Looking forward to checking out your other links!
I really like reading the Rhapsody in Books blog. There are book reviews, but also posts about politics (not conservative), interesting news articles, and history. Here’s the link: http://rhapsodyinbooks.wordpress.com/

You will shoot me later because it’s totally addicting.
How many are we allowed to suggest? You must read more than what’s in your sidebar!!! Maybe I’ll email you a list.
Okay I’m back to suggest one you might not be reading.
First is Texas in Africa…she’s a Christian (to warn you
and a political scientist (but not conservative) She’s done extensive study in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and updates about the situation there frequently. (she also writes for Inspired to Action though we haven’t been updating there much lately) Anyway, you might like it. http://texasinafrica.blogspot.com
Oh, I’m so glad Ti mentioned the Pioneer Woman. You can join us and the 30,000 other people (and I’m not kidding) who enter her giveaways.
How about Ramya’s Bookshelf? She writes great reviews:

A little self-promotion here
Good idea to ask for suggestions – gives us readers more to check out, too
Shameless self promotion here too. I have enjoyed reading yours over the last couple of weeks, I wondered if you might be interested in mine.
I just returned from a 2-week vacation to the states and am just getting caught up with blogs. This was by far the best blog post to come back to. As we have already discussed, HIMYM is an awesome show, and I absolutely love (so does my husband) that stocking stuffer “Bro Code” book your husband got. My husband’s birthday is in 6 days. Too bad I can’t order it and get it here in time for that!
I loooove “How I Met Your Mother”! My dad and I started watching it because it fell squarely between “Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men,” two of our favorite sitcoms. But slowly grew on us! In fact, I have two nice episodes waiting on TiVo right now.
My blog suggestion, if you haven’t checked it out, is Smart Bitches, Trashy Books! With a tagline like “All of the romance, none of the bullshit,” what’s not to like?
In all seriousness, though, Sarah and Candy love to read romance novels — but resent the fact that romance readers are often seen as “cat ladies” who don’t have real lives. Both are young, professional working women who defy those stereotypes! I’m not even really a romance reader — and I don’t think you are either? — but the blog is so funny and frequently updated, it’s hard not to get involved. And you can even see my Hoff pictures on there
Ha, I also read SBTB and I definitely recommend Dear Author as well….they are fabulous. Even though I don’t really read romance.
I read a lot of romance blogs for someone who doesn’t really read romance.
I love this show! It has been on my must TIVO list for a while now.
If you haven’t been to my blog before, pls check it out.
I love this show! I don’t see it in your sidebar, but I love JKaye’s Book Blog
