1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read?
(I’m guessing #1 is an easy question for everyone?)
2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?
For me, reading is like Jell-O—there’s always room for it, and of course I’d love to have more. But when I really think about it, I have to say that, yes, I do generally get to read as much as I want to. I read over lunch at work and for a few hours every evening, and I usually spend a good chunk of each weekend curled up on the couch with my current book. Other than the occasional week or weekend that’s crammed full of work and social commitments, I’m usually very happy with the reading time I have, and that’s pretty satisfying. I’m sure it also helps that we don’t have kids.
Thank goodness my husband is also an avid reader because I can imagine that other people might feel neglected by a partner who spends so much time absorbed in other worlds. As much as I love to read, I also love to have balance in my life; I want to spend time with my husband, take long walks with my dog, watch some TV, and stay in touch with what’s going on in the world. Wouldn’t want too much of a good thing, you know?
If I did magically have more time to read, I wouldn’t change what I read—I think I already have a pretty good mix of topics and genres—I would just spend more time reading and would get to knock out more of my TBRs. I’d be able to meet my commitments for ARCs and requested reviews and enjoy more books from my personal list. Though I’m not really very interested in YA books, I’d probably throw a few of those into the mix so I could be more knowledgeable about them when working with customers and my educator clients.
I feel very fortunate to work in a place where I’m surrounded by books and people who love books, in an environment that encourages the love of reading and is fighting to keep the written word alive, and that affords me exposure and access to all the books I could want.
So tell me, do you get to read as much as you want to? What would you read if you had more time?

We have similar responses.
As you already noted, our responses are similar.
But you should give YA a shot. A lot of it is better than twilight.
Some days I do get enough reading time, but most days, I don’t, especially this time of year.
My response is similar to yours actually – considering I like the other things going on in my life, I usually find that I have enough time to read.
I never seem to have enough time to read. I do try to work it in, but with months like this one, it just doesn’t happen. I actually told myself the other day that one month without it will not kill me but I still find myself carting all my reads to work (just in case).
My husband is NOT a reader at all so I always feel as if he is some abandoned puppy when my nose is buried in a book. My kids will see me reading and then pick up a book but not him.
I would love to knock out more of my ARC commitments as well.
I’m hoping to make a huge dent (after years of accumulation) during my break. I don’t think I’d change or pick certain genres either. I’m happy with my mix and I go with what interests me.
I usually read two hours over breakfast every morning, taking my time and sitting at the sunniest spot at my neighborhood coffee shop. (It’s San Francisco…everyone has their coffee at the cafes). Then I’ll slip in some reading time when no students come for office hour. I’ll read a bit more at home in the evening since I don’t watch much TV.
Being a mom has definitely made me learn to squeeze reading time in around other activities. My favorite is probably to read alongside the child’s bath.
We think alike. No one has enough reading time, and we all could use more to read what we like. Happy BTT!
I’m of the group that could never have enough reading time. My BTT is up
I wouldn’t change what I read, no.
